The Munda Biddi Trail Foundation has been presented with the Award for Bicycle Friendly Business in Canberra on 16 June at the Cycling Promotion Fund’s Eighth Annual Bicycling Achievement Awards.
MBTF Executive Officer, Crystal Reed flew to Canberra to accept the award that was presented at Old Parliament House on Wednesday 16 June, and is delighted with the results. The award celebrates any business, organisation or Government Department that has demonstrated commitment and innovation in encouraging staff and or customers to regularly cycle The MBTF has been working to develop cycle tourism and cycle friendly businesses and towns along each of the Munda Biddi Trail communities. Through its Community Development Program the MBTF aims to educate, inform, and inspire stakeholder groups about the potential of cycle tourism, and to link communities and businesses successfully to the potential of the Munda Biddi Trail as WA’s key iconic nature based cycle touring experience. The pilot program in Mundaring has been successfully delivered, and the MBTF has recently employed an addition staff member Murray Gomm to oversee the implementation of this program throughout the rest of the trail communities. A special thanks goes to Jenny Nichol from NBD Marketing who was the consultant engaged to help MBTF deliver the pilot program in Mundaring and to the five cycle friendly businesses (Mundaring Visitors Centre, Murphy's Cafe, Lion Mill Winery, BCT Transfers and Hovea Ridge Cottage) who were involved throughout the program. Finally thanks to the Department of Local Government for funding the pilot program through the Outer Metropolitan Community Fund.
Congratulations to all involved in achieving this fantastic result! See the Cycling Promotion Fund website for more information.
